Entirely surrounded by salt marshes and tidal creeks, and with deep-water access to the Port Royal Sound via the Colleton River, there is no shortage of opportunities to get out and enjoy the Lowcountry waters and all of its wonders while on Callawassie Island.

Boating

The River Club docks offer deep-water access and community boat slips, connecting residents to the Colleton River, Port Royal Sound, and Atlantic Ocean. The Sugar Mill dock provides quiet creek access, perfect for crabbing or enjoying the breathtaking sunsets that define the beauty of island life.

Fishing

With access to tidal rivers, creeks, ponds, and the Atlantic via Port Royal Sound, fishing is a favorite pastime on the island. Residents enjoy casting from community docks or pulling crab traps. The Callawassie Island Fishing Club brings anglers together through shared outings, stories, and lasting camaraderie.

Kayaking

Kayaking offers an immersive way to experience the island’s abundant wildlife and scenic waterways. Launch from community docks and explore winding creeks at your own pace. For shared adventures, the Paddlers Club organizes guided outings—inviting residents to discover the beauty beyond the island, together on the water.
