Boating at Callawassie Island
Whether boating, kayaking, or enjoying the river from our four community docks, everyone has access to the ever-changing waterways and tidal marshes that surround our beautiful island.
Community docks are available at our River Club and at the Sugar Mill Ruins. Property owners may use the River Club Dock, which has deep-water access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. Many Callawassie homes include private docks and access as well. Callawassie Island property owners have access to secure storage for trailered boats just outside the island's security gate.
Kayak around the island whenever you wish, departing from our community docks or Callawassie Island Paddler's Point. If you want an adventure with your neighbors, join the Kayaking Club on one of their guided outings, taken throughout the year, to explore the waters beyond Callawassie Island - kayak included!
The Atlantic Ocean is accessible from the adjoining Colleton River through Port Royal Sound for deep sea fishing, while some of the world's best inshore fishing abounds in our surrounding tidal rivers, creeks, and fresh water ponds. Residents catch shrimp and crab off the community docks.
