Callawasie Island residents enjoy an amazing array of social activities, frequently featuring dancing and always highlighted by great food from our accomplished chef. Members can participate in monthly prime rib dinners, specialty nights, wine dinners, ecology presentations, informational events, trivia contests, traveling chefs, 50s dances, formal dances, and more. Some of our most popular evenings involve shag dancing, the state dance of South Carolina. Many of our members are active in the Beaufort Shag Club, dancing regularly in Beaufort and even traveling to North Myrtle Beach (where shag has its roots) and Columbia for dance weekends. It's a great way for newcomers to immerse themselves in the local culture, learn a new skill, and meet new friends.
